This was our first visit to the Hilton Kuala Lumpur, so we were looking forward to seeing the sites and having some down time relaxing around the pool.

We arrived late evening and the reception area was quiet with no queues. As a Hilton Honours Member, you can check-in at an allocated area but there was no need on this occasion.
When we booked the hotel we requested a King Executive Room on a room only basis (as you get complimentary breakfast staying in an Executive room) and requested a Hilton eStandby Upgrade® for a bigger Executive Room or a Suite at a reduced cost.
Sadly when checking in (and having emailed the hotel before) no upgrade was offered even though rooms were available (checked online before departing the UK). We mentioned this at check-in, however, the member of staff didn’t seem to understand what was being requested.
So sadly for the first time at a Hilton Hotel no upgrade was received and this was a little disappointing.
Although no upgrade was offered at check-in the allocated room 3312 was a perfect size, the only downside being the view.
The Hilton Website describe the rooms as ‘enjoying amazing views of the KL City skyline from the lavishly decorated King Executive room’. This may well be true but we were on the wrong side of the hotel.
The room was of a high standard and it is what we expected from a city based 5 Star Hilton Hotel.
The bathroom had a separate bathtub and shower with Peter Thomas Roth bathroom amenities.
We had breakfast in Vasco’s all day dining restaurant on the first morning. There was a wide selection of different breakfast options available, however, the restaurant was extremely busy.
On the second morning, we decide to have breakfast in the Executive Lounge as our room was on the same floor.
Although the selection was limited, there was still a chef to cook eggs or omelettes. The executive lounge staff kept the coffee flowing without having to ask, which made breakfast a more pleasurable experience.
The Executive Lounge
The lounge is located on the 33rd floor and offers guests complimentary internet access, breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktail, and coffee and tea throughout the day.
We used the lounge in the morning for breakfast and in the evening for complimentary drinks between 6 pm and 8 pm.
There was food available in the evening and at times, the lounge could get busy so you had to make sure you got there early to grab a seat.
The Executive Lounge staff were amazing and they always made us feel welcome.
As with any city centre hotel, the pool area did not have enough sunbeds at the busier times of the day.
The pool area was always clean, however, the pool staff, unlike the executive lounge staff were none existent.
Trying to get a drink by the pool was a difficult task and by the third visit, we pretty much gave up trying.
Restaurants and Bars
Apart from the pool bar and the executive lounge we didn’t eat are drink at the hotel.
There were a few issues with the hotel but nothing that would put us off returning for another visit, so overall the stay met our expectations.
